Introducing A More Mindful Way To Move

We are all adapting to a new way of life.

In the absence of commuting or going out, many of us are now expected to have more time than ever before – more time to workout, master hobbies, spend meaningful time with our families.

This is not the reality for most of us. The reality is, we are in the midst of a global pandemic, and we are anxious, tired and yes, still busy.

So how do we take care of ourselves in a world that is not more or less, but just different? That’s where mindful movement comes in.

Say Hello To Move 🧘‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Move is the newest tab on Simple Habit where you can now find 5-minute mindful movement videos to use at home.

That’s right, these will be the first videos on Simple Habit designed for busy people like you. While at home, you can enjoy 5-minute guided yoga, stretching and fitness from some of the biggest names in online workouts. Brett Larkin, Yoga With Candace, Yoga With Kassandra and SarahBethYoga are among the experts who rallied together to provide quick, easy guided videos to help keep us moving, mindfully.

Studies show, mindful movement may be especially helpful for people who don’t have time for a full fitness routine in their schedule – like busy moms, or many of us whose schedules are still changing from week to week. According to researchers, if you’re moving your body throughout the day — whether you’re walking to your mailbox or stretching in bed in the morning — you will get the most out of it if you are mindful and present as you move, rather than, say, tune it all out and scroll through your phone as you move from point A to point B.

So, What Exactly Is Mindful Movement?

Simply put, mindful movement is a great way to check in with your body and choose physical activity based on what your body is asking for, rather than what you think it should be doing.

Mindful movement is about being intentional. Instead of forcing ourselves to complete workout challenges and pushing aside our thoughts when we exercise, mindful movement encourages us to be aware of, and even a little bit curious about, every move we make and how they make us feel.

While seated meditations and physical activity (such as going for a walk or a run) are both great on their own, when you put the two together, you get an incredible strategy that can help you manage day-to-day stress in a simple, yet really effective way. Even better, according to the results of a new study, mindful movement is also the best way to exercise. The study, which has been published in the journal Psychology of Sports and Exercise, revealed that tuning into our breath and sensations in our body during a workout is an extremely effective way to manage stress and improve your overall well-being.

Simple Habit is offering mindful movement videos such as Stretching in Bed for mornings and Stress Relief Yoga for after a long day. We hope you join us, whenever you can, wherever you are, for just a few minutes of movement each day.

  1. Hello, I have the simple habit app, but am unable to find the “move” tab. I re-installed the app and it is still not there. Can you help?

  2. The movement section seems to be getting smaller. I can’t find some of my favourite workouts. All I see is stretching and yoga and only about a dozen options. What happened to lower body lunge workout and the Qigong? Please bring back the workouts and make them easier to find. The search function only works for meditations.
